Northampton itself is a historic market town with excellent road and rail connections to London, Birmingham, and Cambridge, making it an ideal location for professionals seeking a well-connected, affordable, and peaceful area in which to live and work.
The family are seeking a reliable, capable, and thoroughly professional Housekeeper-Cook to become a genuinely trusted and long-term member of their household — someone who can manage the home with confidence, warmth, and quiet pride.
The role is evenly balanced between comprehensive household management, light meal preparation, and supporting the wider household with driving errands and general daily assistance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining two neighbouring properties to a consistently high standard, preparing wholesome and nutritious evening meals for the family, managing all household laundry and organisation, and providing warm, reliable support to the grandfather with light errands and companionship.
The family travel regularly during the summer and winter months, during which time the successful candidate will continue to be paid in full whilst the family are away — an exceptional and genuinely generous benefit that allows the professional to enjoy extended paid time off throughout the year (around 40 days a year).

- Managing the daily housekeeping and maintenance of two neighbouring family properties to a consistently high standard — ensuring all rooms, living areas, bathrooms, and communal spaces are kept beautifully clean, tidy, and well-organised throughout
- Preparing nutritious and wholesome evening meals for the family on a daily basis
- Managing all household laundry, ironing, and linen care
- Walking the family dog each morning — ensuring the dog receives daily exercise, fresh air, and attentive care
- Providing light support and assistance to the family's grandfather — including running errands, providing companionship, and assisting with any light household tasks as required
- Driving to collect groceries, household supplies, and completing general household errands as and when needed
- Occasionally travelling to the family's London apartment (approximately once per month) to conduct a thorough clean
- Demonstrating excellent organisational skills, a proactive and self-sufficient approach, and the ability to manage a varied and dynamic workload with efficiency and professionalism
- Operating with discretion, warmth, and reliability; becoming a genuinely trusted and valued member of the family household
- Five or more years of private Housekeeper or Housekeeper-Cook experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Fluent English
- Valid right to work in the United Kingdom
- UK driving licence — essential | Confident motorway driving required
- DBS check
- Dog-friendly
