Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present a rare opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Live-in Housekeeper / Carer / House Manager to join a distinguished private household located in the beautiful coastal countryside area of Norfolk, United Kingdom. This is a long-term permanent position working for a highly respectful and welcoming couple who are seeking a trustworthy professional to support the smooth day-to-day running of their residence and family life. The property is an elegant and characterful Victorian home offering extensive accommodation with multiple reception rooms, landscaped surroundings, and stunning sea views visible directly from the house.
The successful candidate will benefit from completely separate self-contained annex accommodation featuring its own private entrance, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living area, offering an exceptional level of comfort and independence rarely available within live-in roles.
This position would particularly suit an organised, emotionally intelligent, and service-oriented professional who enjoys countryside living, appreciates a peaceful environment, and values developing a long-term role within a respectful household. The position combines elements of housekeeping, light private care, cooking, companionship, household coordination, and light administrative assistance, making it an excellent opportunity for a versatile all-rounder with previous private household experience.
Only two principals reside permanently within the property, alongside a cat. The role does not involve formal service, although very good housekeeping skills and high standards are expected throughout. External contractors are responsible for gardening and handyman duties; however, the successful candidate may occasionally assist with deeper household cleaning and maintaining the overall presentation and organisation of the home. Light PA support will include basic filing of paper documents and assisting with simple household administration where required.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent English communication skills, confidence in managing household responsibilities independently, a calm and compassionate nature, and previous experience supporting elderly principals or working within private households. Driving would be highly advantageous due to the countryside location, and a vehicle may be available for work-related and reasonable personal use. Flexibility will be highly appreciated from the successful candidate; however, the principals are equally prepared to offer flexibility and understanding in return. Two full days off will be provided throughout the week depending on the household schedule and requirements.

Live In Housekeeper / Carer duties may include:
- Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the household
- Performing daily housekeeping and household organisation
- Managing laundry, ironing, linen care, and wardrobe organisation
- Preparing simple fresh meals and assisting with meal planning
- Organising grocery shopping, deliveries, and household supplies
- Providing morning assistance and light personal care support to the principal
- Assisting with companionship and daily wellbeing support
- Managing light household administration and filing paper documents
- Coordinating external contractors and maintenance visits
- Answering telephone calls and assisting with light PA duties
- Supporting the preparation for occasional family gatherings and entertaining
- Monitoring household upkeep and reporting maintenance requirements
- Caring for the household cat when required
- Driving for errands and household-related duties if applicable
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the residence
- Maintaining a respectful, discreet, and professional presence within the home
Requirements for this Full-Time Housekeeper / Carer job:
- 3 years of Housekeeper experience
- Proven experience supporting an elderly principal
- Strong all-round housekeeping skills
- Confident and competent driver with a full UK driving licence
- Ability to prepare simple, traditional meals on an occasional basis
- Fluent in English
- Checkable references
