PERMANENT PART-TIME LIVE-OUT HOUSEKEEPER

TWICKENHAM | GREATER LONDON | GB

SALARY: £20 TO £25 PER HOUR GROSS

A friendly, busy young family in Twickenham are looking for a reliable part-time housekeeper to join their home. They are moving to a larger house nearby in the new year, so they would love someone who can grow with them and help keep everything running smoothly. Twickenham is a lovely place to work, with the River Thames, Marble Hill Park and plenty of green space close by, and the village feel is never far from the buzz of Richmond. The famous rugby stadium is just around the corner too.

Working as a housekeeper in a private family home is varied and rewarding. You are the person who keeps the home calm, clean and organised, so the family can enjoy it. The usual duties include cleaning, laundry, keeping beds made and rooms tidy, helping with the fridge and household supplies, and organising contractors, gardeners and maintenance when needed. In this role, there is also a little light meal prep, which is a nice extra rather than a requirement.

Type: Permanent, part-time, live-out

Working days: Ideally four days a week (Monday to Thursday, or a similar pattern). The family is flexible for the right person, and a weekend day would be a bonus.

Working hours: About 20 hours per week, ideally four 5-hour days

Language: English

Salary: £20 to £25 per hour gross, depending on experience (self-employed or PAYE). Self-employment is preferred, but PAYE can be arranged.

Location: Twickenham, London

Starting date: As soon as possible. The start date is flexible, and the family is happy to begin with a trial first.

This is a live-out position, and Twickenham is easy to get to by public transport. The train station is in the village, and several bus routes run nearby, so the commute should be straightforward.

Duties:

  • Keeping the home consistently clean, tidy and well presented, to a high, show-ready standard
  • Daily kitchen reset: dishwasher, worktops, hob, sink and floors
  • Checking and organising the fridge, managing household supplies and keeping shopping lists up to date
  • Cleaning bathrooms, making beds and keeping bedrooms tidy
  • Laundry and ironing, wardrobe care, using gentle detergent for the children’s clothes
  • Tidying family areas, toys, play areas and the highchair
  • Hoovering and dusting, with care around furniture and walls, and looking after wood floors and carpets
  • Receiving deliveries and coordinating contractors, gardeners and maintenance
  • Using light, natural cleaning products
  • Simple meal prep when needed, such as roasts, vegetables or chicken
  • Working alongside the parents and the family’s nanny
  • Helping with the move to the new home, if available

Specialist skills:

  • Experience of hotel-style housekeeping and presentation
  • Confidence managing a larger, multi-floor home
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to coordinate other professionals
  • Happy to work independently
  • Basic cooking skills would be a bonus

Minimal requirements:

  • Five or more years of private housekeeper experience
  • 2 excellent checkable references
  • Conversational English
  • UK Work Permit
  • A fresh DBS check
