Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present a fantastic opportunity for a professional, experienced, and hands-on Housekeeper to join a welcoming private household located in the picturesque village of Teynham, near Sittingbourne in Kent. The household comprises two adult principals, a friendly middle-sized dog, and extended family members visiting throughout the summer period, and is based within a beautiful family farmhouse set in a peaceful rural location. The family are seeking a proactive and practical Housekeeper with excellent common sense, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude who can provide valuable support during a busy two-month period. This role would suit a fit and capable Housekeeper who enjoys working in a countryside environment and takes pride in maintaining a home to exceptional standards while assisting with occasional family hosting requirements.
This is a temporary, live-out, part-time position running from 22nd June until 16th August, offering 20 working hours per week across five working days. The property is situated approximately five minutes' drive from Faversham train station and is accessible by public transport; however, due to the rural location of the farmhouse, an own car would be highly advantageous. Working as a Housekeeper in this household involves maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the property while providing practical day-to-day household support. Duties include cleaning, laundry, ironing, household organisation, shopping, errands, meal preparation, and occasional assistance with maintaining the pool house alongside the family's gardener/handyman.
Working as a Housekeeper within this household requires a flexible, self-sufficient, and proactive approach. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the home remains clean, organised, and welcoming throughout the summer period while supporting the family during visits from relatives and guests. The role also involves occasional interaction with young children, so a Housekeeper who is comfortable working around family life would be well suited to this position. Main duties of the Temporary Housekeeper:
- Daily cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, reception rooms, hallways, and family living spaces
- Scheduled deep cleaning
- Laundry, ironing, linen care, and changing bed linen as required
- Organising kitchen areas, cupboards, storage spaces, and maintaining overall household order
- Taking out household bins and monitoring general household presentation
- Occasional cleaning and upkeep of the pool house in coordination with the gardener/handyman
- Watering plants and assisting with light garden-related tasks when required
- Running local errands including grocery shopping and collecting household supplies
- Assisting with simple meal preparation for the family when required
- Supporting the family during visits from extended family members and helping maintain a welcoming environment
- Working around young children in a professional and family-friendly manner
- Working independently, using initiative, and contributing positively to the smooth running of the household
Requirements for this Temporary Housekeeper:
- Minimum of 3 years of private housekeeping experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Proficient level of English
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Own car would be desirable
