PERMANENT FULL-TIME LIVE-IN HOUSEKEEPER JOB

A wonderful, busy family in Fawley, New Forest, is looking for a Live-in Housekeeper to become a genuine part of their household. They love having someone who feels naturally at home alongside them, rather than someone working to a rigid, separate task list. Tasks are shared between the housekeeper and the parents depending on the day, so a flexible, common-sense attitude really matters here.
This role suits someone who genuinely enjoys being around children and family life. Day to day, the role covers general housekeeping and cleaning throughout the home, along with a good amount of laundry. With four children in the house, most of this tends to be everyday items like school uniforms and sports kit, rather than anything delicate or high-value. Making beds, keeping things generally tidy, and lending a hand with meal preparation during the week round out the role.
Things shift a little during school holidays, when the family would appreciate some extra support with the children, perhaps taking them out somewhere, or dropping them off at a friend's house or a birthday party. To be clear, this is not a childcare or nanny position, but the right candidate should feel genuinely comfortable around children of this age, particularly the two younger ones, and enjoy being part of a lively family home rather than a quieter or more formal setting.
The family is offering a live-in arrangement, with accommodation provided in a nearby cottage. The cottage comes with its own kitchen area and private space, either one or two bedrooms, and all utility bills covered.
Position: Permanent, Live-In Housekeeper / Household Help
Location: Fawley, New Forest
Hours: 40 hours per week, Thursday to Monday, 10am–7pm
Salary: £45,000 gross per annum, depending on experience, flexible
Employment Basis: PAYE or self-employed, whichever suits you best
Cooking: Basic meals
Language: English
Driving: A huge bonus
Pets: One small dog
Accommodation: Cottage provided, one or two bedrooms, own kitchen area, utility bills included
Start Date: ASAP
Main Duties:
- General housekeeping and cleaning throughout the home
- Laundry, including a high volume of children's clothing and sports kit, plus bed changes
- Helping with meal preparation
- During school holidays, additional support such as taking the children out, or dropping them at a birthday party or activity (this is not a childcare or nanny role)
- Occasional errands as needed, such as picking something up, dropping something off, or taking the dog to the groomer
- A flexible, common-sense approach to what needs doing on any given day
Requirements:
- At least 3–5 years of verified experience in a private household
- A valid DBS check, or a willingness to obtain one
- The right to work in the UK
Driving is a big bonus for this role - Verbal and written references from previous private employers
- Comfortable being around a small dog
- Happy to help with occasional errands and short local trips as needed
