Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present a lovely opportunity for a proactive and reliable Housekeeper to join a welcoming private family living near Christchurch in Dorset. The household comprises two adults and their two young children, aged three and five, together with a small Toy Poodle. The family is looking for someone who takes pride in their work, uses initiative and would enjoy becoming a trusted and consistent part of the household over time.
This is a permanent, part-time, live-out position currently offered for approximately eight hours per week, which can be arranged as either one full working day or two shorter days depending on the successful Housekeeper’s availability. As the property is located in a more rural area near Christchurch, a driving licence and own car are required for the commute. The role is initially focused on regular housekeeping and household organisation, making it well suited to a professional Housekeeper looking for a small, consistent private household commitment. Over time, as the family’s needs develop, there may be an opportunity for the hours to increase and for the role to include occasional childcare, such as staying with the children while the parents are busy or taking them to parks and playdates.
Working as a Housekeeper in this household involves maintaining the home clean, tidy and well organised, with responsibility for general cleaning, laundry and ironing, particularly for the children, as well as keeping the household running smoothly. There may also be some seasonal wardrobe organisation for children and, when time allows, simple meal preparation for the children. To keep the workload manageable within the limited weekly hours, duties will be planned and prioritised across the working days, with tasks that are not required on one day carried forward to the next scheduled visit. The family is looking for someone proactive and initiative-driven who can provide consistency and become a valued member of the family.

Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper:
- General cleaning and upkeep of the five-bedroom family home
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised household environment
- Dusting, vacuuming, mopping and general care of household surfaces
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas
- Laundry, ironing and folding, with particular responsibility for the children’s clothing
- Keeping children’s bedrooms and everyday areas organised and tidy
- Seasonal wardrobe organisation and clothing rotation for children when required
- Supporting household organisation and using initiative to identify tasks that require attention
- Occasional simple meal preparation for the children when time allows
- Working comfortably around the family’s small Toy Poodle
- Maintaining consistency with the family’s household routines and preferences
- Potential for additional hours and occasional childcare support as the family’s needs develop
- Remaining with the children at home for short periods when required in the future
- Taking the children to local parks or playdates when childcare becomes part of the role
Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper:
- Minimum of 3 years of private housekeeping experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Proficient level of English
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Own car is essential
