A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced, proactive, and genuinely houseproud Housekeeper to join a warm and busy family home in rural Cambridgeshire. Thehousehold is home to a busy family with four children aged between five and twelve,alongside a lively and much-loved menagerie of pets, including two Great Danes, a Retriever, and a Shih Tzu.
The family have previously relied on standard cleaning cover but are now seeking agenuine Housekeeper — someone who will come to know the home, take ownership of itsdaily rhythm, and go well beyond surface cleaning to provide comprehensive, proactive household management. This is a full day placement, once per week (approximately 8hours), ideal for a self-employed Housekeeper looking to complementan existing part-time schedule with an additional family.
The successful candidate will be trusted to assess what the house needs on any given day, manage the ongoing laundry cycle from start to finish (including putting items away), tackle rotating deep-cleaning tasks such as high beams and less-frequently-reached areas, and generally bring a sense of order and calm to a busy family home. Some light grocery put-away and, as a genuine bonus rather than a requirement, occasional help with simple afternoon meal prep for the children, would also be very much appreciated.
As the property is located in a rural part of Cambridgeshire, a driving licence and access to a personal vehicle are essential for commuting purposes (no driving duties are required as part of the role itself).

The Duties:
- Comprehensive cleaning throughout a large five-bedroom, five-bathroom family home, prioritising tasks proactively based on what the household genuinely needs that day
- Full ownership of the laundry cycle — washing, drying, and returning items to their proper place, easing this ongoing task for the family
- Kitchen cleaning and general tidying, including areas of high daily use
- Rotating deep-cleaning tasks such as high ceilings, wooden beams, and other less frequently addressed areas
- Assisting with the receipt and put-away of grocery deliveries
- Getting to know the household over time to work with growing initiative and proactive suggestions, whilst always remaining within the agreed scope of the role
- Comfortable and warm around a lively household of dogs
- Occasional light meal preparation for the children in the afternoon — a bonus, not a strict requirement
Minimal Requirements:
- 3+ years of private domestic Housekeeping experience
- DBS certificate
- Two excellent, checkable references from previous private household employers
- Driving licence and access to a personal vehicle — essential for this rural location
- Comfortable and confident around dogs
