Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present an excellent opportunity for a professional, proactive, and organised Housekeeper to join a private family in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The family has a private collection of eight residences within the same estate, each offering comfortable two- to four-bedroom accommodation, all situated within a few minutes’ walk of one another. The properties are used exclusively by the family, who typically spend around three months of the year in residence. They are now seeking a reliable Housekeeper to help oversee the homes and support the smooth running of the properties throughout the year. This would suit a confident professional who enjoys a varied role combining hands-on housekeeping with light staff coordination and household support.
This is a permanent, part-time position offering 25 hours per week across five working days, with formal employment and a salary of £25 gross per hour. Based in the attractive Buckinghamshire town of Marlow, the role offers an unusual opportunity to work within a private estate while enjoying a structured part-time schedule. A driving licence is essential, and the family will provide a vehicle for the Housekeeper to use during working hours. When the family is not in residence, the role focuses on keeping the properties maintained and well presented, working alongside one cleaner and ensuring everything is in good order. During the family’s visits, additional housekeeping support will be brought in, with the Housekeeper helping to coordinate the team while remaining hands-on.
Working as a Housekeeper in this household involves a varied combination of housekeeping, property oversight, staff coordination, and practical household support. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and presentation across the properties, managing laundry and ironing, monitoring household supplies, replenishing stock, running occasional errands, and assisting with simple private household arrangements such as making bookings. When the family is in residence, the successful candidate will help coordinate the additional cleaners and liaise with other household staff, while continuing to contribute directly to the upkeep of the homes. When the family is away, the focus will be on regular checks, general upkeep, maintaining the properties to a high standard, and ensuring everything is ready for the family's return. Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper:
- Maintaining the cleanliness, order, and presentation of the family’s private residences
- Carrying out regular housekeeping and general upkeep across the properties
- Overseeing the condition of the homes when the family is not in residence
- Working alongside and coordinating one cleaner during periods when the family is away
- Supporting the management of additional housekeeping staff when the family is in residence
- Remaining hands-on with cleaning and housekeeping alongside staff coordination
- Laundry, ironing, linen care, and changing bed linen as required
- Monitoring household supplies and ensuring essential items are replenished
- Organising and maintaining household storage areas
- Running occasional local errands on behalf of the family
- Making bookings and assisting with straightforward private household arrangements
- Liaising with other household staff and supporting smooth communication during family visits
- Conducting regular checks of the properties and reporting any maintenance or household concerns
- Ensuring the homes are appropriately prepared ahead of the family’s arrival
- Maintaining a proactive approach and identifying tasks that require attention without constant supervision
- Using the family-provided vehicle for work-related errands and duties
- Maintaining discretion, reliability, and professionalism at all times
Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper:
- Minimum of 3 years of private housekeeping experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Proficient level of English
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Driving Licence is essential
