Working as a private Housekeeper within a household of this scale is a genuinely rewarding role for someone who enjoys structure, independence, and being a trusted, central figure within a well-run home. The role covers all aspects of daily housekeeping to a consistently high standard, including laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care, alongside occasional light cooking and basic care of the household's much-loved pets — including dogs, cats, parrots, tortoises, and peacocks. The successful candidate will also liaise closely with contractors and other household staff, and will be expected to take full responsibility for the property when the family is travelling.

As this position is based in a rural village location with limited public transport links, a full driving licence is strongly preferred for this role, to allow for ease of local travel and day-to-day errands.
This is a fantastic live-in opportunity, with a beautifully self-contained flat provided within the main house, including a double bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room with kitchenette — offering genuine privacy and comfort within a warm, well-staffed household.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering daily housekeeping to an immaculate, consistently high standard throughout a large country house
- Managing all laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care, including the careful handling of valuable and designer clothing
- Preparing light meals and simple suppers as required
- Caring sensitively and confidently for valuable household items, including fine china and artwork
- Providing basic care for the family's much-loved pets, including dogs, cats, parrots, tortoises, and peacocks
- Liaising professionally with contractors and other household staff to ensure the smooth running of the property
- Taking full responsibility for the property and pets during the family's frequent travel periods
- Demonstrating flexibility, particularly around weekend working, given the family's presence on-site at weekends
Minimal Requirements:
- Three or more years of private Housekeeper experience
- 2 excellent, checkable references
- Fluent English
- UK working permit
- Valid driving licence
- Bringing genuine discretion, reliability, and a sense of continuity to the role
