Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present an excellent opportunity for an experienced and professional Domestic Couple to join a prestigious Georgian country house and events venue near Wantage, Oxfordshire. This is a permanent, full-time, live-in position for a couple who can work collaboratively across the operation of the House, with one professional taking responsibility as Operations Manager and the other as Head of Housekeeping.
The successful couple will become an integral part of the day-to-day running of this beautiful country residence and events venue. The role combines high-level private household housekeeping with practical property management and event operations, making it particularly well suited to a capable couple with complementary skills and a hands-on, proactive approach.
The Operations Manager will oversee the practical operation of the House, including event preparation, day-to-day maintenance, deliveries, collections, stock checks and liaison with external tradespeople and suppliers. The role will also involve assisting with the grounds and facilities when required. A full gardening team is already in place, although occasional assistance with the garden, swimming pool and tennis court may be required.
The Head of Housekeeping will lead the housekeeping operation, ensuring the House is maintained to an exceptional standard. Responsibilities will include cleaning, laundry, bed changing and the overall organisation of housekeeping. During events, both members of the couple will work together to ensure the property is prepared and presented to the required standard.
The couple will be provided with a furnished flat within the House, with council tax, electricity, gas, Wi-Fi and heating covered by the employer. Pension contribution is also included within the package, alongside 28 days' paid holiday.The employers are looking for a long-term appointment and value reliability, professionalism and commitment. Main duties of the Domestic Couple:
- Work collaboratively to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the House and events venue.
- Maintain the residence and guest areas to an exceptionally high standard.
- Lead and undertake comprehensive housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry and bed changing.
- Ensure the House is consistently presented to an immaculate standard.
- Prepare the House and event spaces in accordance with detailed event plans.
- Assist with setting up the House and marquee ahead of weddings and other events.
- Liaise professionally with wedding suppliers, contractors and external service providers.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment and other items required for events.
- Coordinate event deliveries and collections.
- Carry out post-event checks, including assessing any damage and checking stocks and equipment.
- Monitor day-to-day maintenance requirements throughout the property.
- Undertake minor repairs, practical maintenance and painting where appropriate.
- Arrange and supervise external tradespeople for larger maintenance works.
- Assist with occasional garden, pool and tennis court maintenance as required.
- Work closely with the gardening team and other household professionals.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure household and event supplies are organised.
- Contribute to the smooth running and presentation of the property throughout the year.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a hands-on approach during busy periods and events.
- Work as a reliable and professional team, supporting one another across the household and event-related duties.
Requirements for this Domestic Couple job:
- Previous private household or Domestic Couple experience preferred.
- Full UK driving license
- Professional, discreet, trustworthy and dependable.
- Non-smokers only.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Excellent checkable references.
