The principals are a single lady and her nine-year-old daughter who are seeking a flexible, reliable, and detail-oriented couple to support the smooth running of their home.
Bloomsbury is one of London’s most historic and charming areas, known for its elegant Georgian architecture, garden squares, and proximity to some of the capital’s most renowned cultural institutions and universities. The family enjoys travelling internationally and is looking for professionals who are dog-friendly, adaptable, and comfortable working in a refined household with antiques and artwork.
Working as a Domestic Couple in a high-standard private household requires excellent organisation, teamwork, and a proactive approach to managing both housekeeping and household support responsibilities. In this role, the successful couple will be responsible for maintaining the property to an exceptional standard, including detailed cleaning, laundry, and ironing, as well as preparing family-style meals with a focus on French cuisine. Occasionally, the principals may host meals for up to twelve guests, where formal dinner service will be required. Additional duties include school runs for the nine-year-old daughter, caring for the family’s Australian shepherd, assisting with moderate gardening tasks, and maintaining valuable antiques and artwork with care and attention.
The role also includes travelling with the family for approximately one month each year to New York and one month to the South of France, where driving will be required using a vehicle provided by the principals.

This position offers excellent live-in accommodation, with the principals providing a private studio apartment with a separate entrance. The accommodation offers privacy and comfort, allowing the domestic couple to maintain a good work–life balance while remaining conveniently located on the property.
Main duties of the Full-Time Domestic Couple:
- Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the six-bedroom property through thorough housekeeping, including deep cleaning, tidying, and organisation.
- Managing all laundry duties including washing, ironing, wardrobe organisation, and care of delicate garments and household linens.
- Preparing nutritious and family-style meals with a focus on French cuisine, while also being capable of cooking for small gatherings of up to twelve guests, when required.
- Providing formal table service for dinners and special occasions, ensuring a polished and professional presentation.
- Conducting school runs for the principals’ nine-year-old daughter and providing general support to the family’s daily routine.
- Walking and caring for the family’s Australian shepherd, ensuring the pet’s wellbeing and regular exercise.
- Caring for antiques, artwork, and fine furniture with particular attention to detail and proper maintenance techniques.
- Assisting with moderate gardening duties to maintain the outdoor areas of the property.
- Travelling with the family for approximately one month each year to New York and one month to the South of France, supporting the household during travel periods.
- Driving when required during time spent in France using a vehicle provided by the principals.
- Maintaining excellent communication with the principals and demonstrating flexibility and a professional approach to household management.
Requirements for this Full-Time Domestic Couple job:
- Three or more years of private Domestic Couple experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Conversational level of English
- Valid UK working permit
- At least one driver within the couple
