Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present a fantastic long-term opportunity for a professional and dedicated Live-In Domestic Couple to join a warm and respectful private family based in Silchester, Reading, within easy reach of London. This is a permanent, full-time position offering excellent longevity for the right couple. The property is not the family’s primary residence, and they typically reside there for approximately three months per year on an intermittent basis (short stays throughout the year). During these periods, the workload will naturally increase, and flexibility will be required. Outside of these times, the role will involve maintaining the property to an impeccable standard.
The successful couple will be responsible for the full care and presentation of the household, ensuring it is always guest-ready. Duties will include hands-on housekeeping, laundry and ironing, wardrobe management, polishing silver, and careful handling of antiques and delicate items. One half of the couple will take responsibility for family-style cooking using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The second half of the couple will also oversee light outdoor duties, including basic gardening such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, and maintaining flower pots, as well as carrying out minor handyman tasks around the property. Additional responsibilities will include running errands, provisioning, organising the home, and providing driving services such as shopping trips and airport transfers. A full driving licence is essential, and vehicles will be provided.
The couple will be provided with a private, self-contained cottage attached to the main house, featuring a separate entrance and their own garden, ensuring comfort and privacy. The family is open to considering couples with dependents (children) and/or their own pets. Main duties of the Domestic Couple:
- Full housekeeping to a high standard
- Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
- Polishing silver and care of fine surfaces and antiques
- Family-style cooking using fresh ingredients
- Running errands and household organisation
- Shopping and provisioning
- Driving duties, including airport drop-offs and pick-ups
- Hands-on cleaning and maintaining a guest-ready environment
- Minor handyman duties
- Light gardening (lawn mowing, hedges, flower pots)
