The family is seeking a highly experienced professional with strong pressing skills and specialist laundry knowledge who takes pride in caring for high-quality garments and delivering meticulous results.

A professional laundress in this position will be responsible for the careful washing, pressing, and ironing of the family’s specialist garments. The role will focus particularly on suits, dress shirts, men’s trousers, washed jumpers, and occasional delicate dresses, with particular attention given to garment care and presentation. The successful candidate will also be confident with delicate handwashing, advanced stain removal, and minor clothing repairs. As the housekeeper already manages the family’s everyday laundry, including bed linen and towels, the laundress will be able to concentrate exclusively on the more specialist and delicate items requiring expert handling.

Kensington is easily accessible by public transport, making this an attractive opportunity for an experienced laundress seeking a prestigious part-time position that can complement other professional commitments.

Main duties of the Part-Time Laundress:

Washing and ironing the family’s specialist laundry.
Expertly pressing suits, ensuring jackets, trousers, and other tailored garments retain their shape and appearance.
Pressing dress shirts and men’s trousers with attention to detail.
Washing and pressing jumpers and other garments requiring specialist treatment.
Handling occasional delicate dresses using appropriate washing and pressing techniques.
Performing delicate handwashing where required to protect sensitive fabrics and garments.
Carrying out advanced stain removal using appropriate techniques and products according to the fabric and type of stain.
Completing minor mending and clothing repairs when necessary.
Inspecting garments before and after laundering to identify stains, damage, or areas requiring additional attention.
Following individual garment care instructions and ensuring appropriate handling of different fabrics and materials.
Maintaining an organised and efficient laundry and pressing routine.
Working independently while maintaining excellent standards of care, presentation, and discretion.
Sending the laundry to dry-cleaning, when needed.
Liaising appropriately with the housekeeper regarding the division of laundry responsibilities, with everyday bed linen and towel laundry remaining under the housekeeper’s remit.

Requirements for this Part-Time Laundress job:

Three or more years of private housekeeper experience
Two excellent checkable references
Conversational English
UK working permit
