Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present an excellent opportunity for a proactive, capable, and experienced Housekeeper / Mother’s Help to join a warm and busy private family household located in Kentford, near Newmarket in Suffolk. The household comprises two adult principals and three young children aged 6 years, 4 years, and 7 months, within a substantial eight-bedroom property with two reception rooms. The family are seeking a highly organised and initiative-driven professional who can take genuine responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the household, allowing the mother to focus on enjoying quality time with the children. The role would suit a confident individual who works independently, anticipates household needs naturally, and is comfortable managing a busy family environment without constant instruction or supervision.
This is a permanent, full-time, live-out position based in the beautiful countryside area of Kentford, offering a calm and family-oriented environment while remaining within easy reach of Newmarket and surrounding areas. Due to the rural location of the property and the requirement to run errands and occasionally drive the children to activities or appointments, a confident driver with their own car is essential for this role. Working as a Housekeeper / Mother’s Help within this household involves maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout the home while also providing occasional childcare support when required. The family are looking for someone flexible, practical, and hands-on, who enjoys supporting family life and contributing positively to a well-run household. The position is offered as formal employment.
Working in this Housekeeper / Mother’s Help role will involve full housekeeping duties including cleaning, deep cleaning, laundry, ironing, changing bed linens, basic wardrobe management, tidying, and organising storage areas throughout the property. Responsibilities will also include running household errands, occasional simple cooking for the children, batch cooking following recipes when needed, and supporting the overall organisation of the home. Childcare support will be required on an ad hoc basis and may include taking children to activities, accompanying them on walks or playdates, assisting with toddler nap routines, and occasional dog walking for the family’s friendly Labrador. Main duties of the Full-Time Housekeeper:
- Full housekeeping of an eight-bedroom private residence to exceptionally high standards.
- Daily and deep cleaning of all household areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, reception rooms, and family spaces.
- Laundry and ironing duties including care of delicate garments, household linens, and wardrobe organisation.
- Changing bed linens, organising storage areas, and maintaining overall household presentation and order.
- Care and maintenance of wooden furniture and silver items using appropriate cleaning techniques and products.
- Running errands including shopping, collections, and general household tasks.
- Preparing simple home-style meals for children and occasional batch cooking following recipes provided by the principals.
- Providing occasional childcare support including school and activity transport, walks, playdates, and assistance with nap routines.
- Walking and caring for the family’s friendly Labrador when required.
- Working independently and proactively to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the household at all times.
Requirements for this Full-Time Housekeeper:
- Minimum of 3 years of private housekeeping experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Proficient level of English
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Own car is essential
- DBS Check
