PERMANENT PART-TIME LIVE-OUT HOUSEKEEPER

A welcoming private household based in one of Glasgow Southside’s desirable residential districts is searching for a part-time Housekeeper to provide reliable household support three days per week and ensure that the home remains clean, organised, and comfortable.
The property is situated in an attractive and well-established residential area, appreciated for its leafy character, convenient local amenities, and easy access to the wider city. The residence itself is secure, thoughtfully designed, and finished to a high standard, offering a pleasant and manageable environment in which to work.
The family is seeking a capable and conscientious Housekeeper who will assist with the regular reset and upkeep of the home. The position will focus on general cleaning, kitchen and bathroom care, laundry and ironing, bed linen, floors and surfaces, household bins, and ensuring that the main living areas are left fresh, orderly, and comfortable at the end of each visit.
Laundry will form an important part of the position. The successful Housekeeper shall therefore be confident managing the complete laundry process, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing or folding, and returning clothing and household linen neatly to their appropriate places.
The Housekeeper shall be comfortable working independently and using good judgement to identify which areas would benefit from additional attention during each visit. Once the regular household duties have been completed, the family would appreciate someone who can proactively prioritise the area of the home that most requires attention without needing detailed instruction on every occasion.
The household is entering a busy and important new chapter, and the family would particularly value someone calm, dependable, discreet, and considerate of their privacy. The successful Housekeeper must be comfortable working efficiently within an occupied family home and maintaining excellent standards while remaining respectful of the family’s routines and personal space.
The preferred arrangement is four hours per day across three days per week. The family would appreciate some reasonable flexibility around working times while their routines develop, and a mixture of morning or later visits may occasionally be helpful. The regular working pattern and any variations would, of course, be discussed and agreed with the successful Housekeeper.
There are no cooking, childcare, driving, household-management, or formal pet-care responsibilities attached to this appointment. Two lovely large dogs are present within the household, so the successful Housekeeper is expected to be comfortable working around them.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining the household ensuring cleanliness and comfort
- Resetting the kitchen, washing dishes, and ensuring worktops and surrounding areas are left clean and orderly
- Cleaning and maintaining bathrooms, toilets, and associated surfaces
- Carefully managing household laundry, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing or folding, and putting items away
- Changing beds and managing household linen and towels as required
- Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and maintaining floors and general surfaces
- Emptying household bins and dealing with household waste appropriately
- Checking the refrigerator and disposing of expired food when required
- Keeping frequently used household areas tidy, organised, and comfortable
- Giving additional attention to whichever area of the home most requires it once regular duties are complete
- Delicate handling of clothing, linen, furnishings, and personal belongings with appropriate care and respect
- Working independently, discreetly, and efficiently while remaining considerate of the family’s privacy and routines
Minimum Requirements
- At least three years’ professional domestic housekeeping experience
- Excellent general cleaning and household-maintenance skills
- Strong laundry, ironing, folding, and linen-care experience
- Good knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods for quality household surfaces and finishes
- Exceptional attention to detail and respect for personal belongings
- A proactive approach and confidence identifying household priorities independently
- Excellent reliability, punctuality, and time-management skills
- Good communicative English
- A discreet, calm, and professionally presented manner, with confidence working around large dogs
- Valid UK right to work, strong checkable references, and a current DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
