This lovely, relaxed household comprises a couple with two young children - one aged two and one aged six months. The residence is a spacious and well-maintained family home with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and additional living areas including a playroom, dining room, utility space, and a home office annex.
The family live in a vibrant, well-connected area of Edinburgh, with local amenities just a five-minute walk away. This live-out position is ideal for local candidates seeking a flexible, part-time role that is easily accessible by public transport. The principals are seeking a reliable, self-sufficient professional who can take initiative and maintain high housekeeping standards with minimal instruction.
Working as a Housekeeper in a private household involves a range of domestic responsibilities, from daily cleaning to wardrobe management and specialist laundry care. This role will focus on the complete upkeep of the home and is suited to a candidate who takes pride in their work, respects household routines, and has a strong eye for detail.
The ideal candidate will be confident managing all housekeeping duties independently, understand how to care for special materials and surfaces, and ideally be able to offer occasional light meal preparation if time permits.

Job Details:
- Position Type: Permanent, Part-Time, Live-Out (Self-employed basis)
- Working Days: 2 days per week (ideally Monday and Thursday, flexible for the right candidate)
- Working Hours: 12 hours per week (approx. 6 hours per day)
- Salary: £20 gross per hour
- Language: English
- Location: Central Edinburgh, Scotland
- Driving: Required
- Starting Date: As soon as the right candidate is found
Typical Duties Will Include:
- Full cleaning of all rooms across two floors
- Laundry and ironing, including delicate care and strict garment separation
- Wardrobe management and correct handling of handwash/dry-clean-only items
- Appropriate treatment of special surfaces such as stone tables and antique furniture
- Organisation and upkeep of the kitchen, utility room, playroom, and dining area
- Occasional light meal preparation if required and time allows
- Use of non-toxic, professional-grade products and tools
- Respecting and maintaining privacy, security and discretion
- Taking initiative to identify and complete tasks independently
Minimum Requirements:
- Three or more years of private Housekeeper experience
- Two excellent, checkable references
- Conversational English
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Must be DBS-checked or willing to obtain one
- High attention to detail, initiative, and excellent organisational skills
- Comfortable working in a household with children (no childcare duties required)
