Perfect Household Staff is proud to present a long-term opportunity for an experienced and discreet Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook to support a small, respectful family in South Kensington. The household comprises two principals (a father and his daughter) who live in a well-maintained two-floor, three-bedroom apartment. The family previously employed a housekeeper/cook for over twenty years and now seeks a personable, committed professional to establish another long-term working relationship and become a trusted presence in the home.

South Kensington is one of London’s most desirable residential areas, offering excellent local amenities and very good transport connections. The property is conveniently located for candidates who wish to commute; however, the role will occasionally require short live-in periods when the principals are away.

During those periods accommodation will be provided in a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

This is a formal employment role with National Insurance contributions, statutory holiday entitlement and other standard employment benefits. The family places a high value on discretion, reliability and a calm, well-presented manner. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the apartment to a consistently high standard, ensuring all rooms are tidy, polished and hygienic. They will assist with light meal preparation, supporting the family with nutritious and simple dishes, and will take full responsibility for the care of the household cat.

The role requires a proactive and adaptable professional who can manage household routines independently, anticipate the family’s needs, and respond promptly to any maintenance or organisational requirements. Flexibility is key, as the candidate will occasionally be required to live in for short periods, during which they will oversee the home and ensure it remains comfortable, secure and well-managed in the principals’ absence.

Working Days: Monday to Friday
Working Hours: 20 hours per week (ideally 09:00 AM – 1:00 PM)

Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom provided during live-in periods (approximately 8–12 weeks per year)

Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook:

General daily housekeeping across the apartment, including dusting, polishing, vacuuming and mopping, maintaining all rooms to a high standard.
Light meal preparation when required, supporting the family with simple, nutritious dishes.
Laundry and ironing, with careful handling of clothes and linens.
Wardrobe organisation, ensuring clothing and personal items are neatly stored.
Full care of the household cat, including feeding, topping up water, maintaining litter areas, and general oversight during absence periods.
Monitoring household supplies and groceries, advising the family when items need replenishing.
Overseeing the property during short live-in periods, maintaining routines and ensuring the home remains organised and secure.
Reporting maintenance issues or unusual occurrences promptly, coordinating with service providers as needed.
Maintaining discretion, respect for privacy, and a calm, professional manner at all times.

Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook job:

Minimum of 3 years of relevant private housekeeping experience
Two excellent checkable references
Legal right to work in the UK
Conversational level of English
Flexibility to occasionally working on a live-in basis

A driving license and an access to a vehicle
