Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present a lovely opportunity for a warm, friendly, and capable Housekeeper/Cook to join the private household of a retired lady in Chiswick, West London. The principal is looking for someone with a genuine can-do attitude, a naturally warm manner, and a friendly approach who will be comfortable providing practical household support, cooking and pleasant companionship. Chiswick is a highly desirable area of West London, known for its attractive residential streets, green spaces, riverside walks, and excellent local amenities, creating a pleasant setting for a temporary live-in position.

This is a temporary, full-time, live-in position to cover for 2 vacation periods of a permanent housekeeper from 25 November to 18 December and from 7 January to 12 February, with an en suite bedroom provided within the principal’s home. The working day is approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm, with a generous lunch break, all food included, and the role is arranged across seven days per week. The household already benefits from a cleaner who takes care of the essential and deep cleaning, allowing the Housekeeper/Cook to focus on maintaining general tidiness, laundry and ironing, kitchen upkeep, and the comfortable presentation of the living areas. The position would suit a Housekeeper/Cook who enjoys a friendly household environment and is happy to combine practical duties with companionship.

Working as a Housekeeper/Cook involves providing light, day-to-day household support and all cooking while being a warm and attentive presence for the principal. Duties include maintaining general tidiness, changing bed linen and towels, basic laundry and ironing, keeping the kitchen and living areas organised, and preparing fresh family-style meals each day. The principal follows a coeliac-safe diet and will provide clear instructions and recipes, so the Housekeeper will be guided on exactly what to prepare rather than being expected to create menus independently. The home will be fully stocked for the cover period, with only occasional grocery shopping from the nearby local shops required. The principal speaks English, Spanish, and French, and welcomes applicants who are comfortable communicating in any of these languages.

Main duties of this Live-In Housekeeper/Cook:

Maintaining general tidiness and a comfortable presentation throughout the two-floor home
Keeping living areas neat, organised, and welcoming on a daily basis
Changing bed linen and towels as required
Carrying out basic laundry, including washing, folding, putting away, and ironing
Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy, and well organised
Preparing fresh, simple family-style meals each day
Following the principal’s recipes and specific cooking instructions
Preparing meals in accordance with a coeliac-safe diet and maintaining appropriate awareness of cross-contamination
Occasionally purchasing groceries from the local shops when required
Providing friendly companionship and a warm presence for the principal
Supporting the comfortable day-to-day running of the household
Working with a positive, can-do attitude and taking initiative with routine household tasks
Maintaining discretion, reliability, and a professional approach throughout the assignment
