Perfect Household Staff is delighted to present a wonderful opportunity for a professional, proactive, and detail-oriented Housekeeper/Cook to join a warm and welcoming private family household located in Great Waltham, just outside Chelmsford in Essex. The household comprises two adult principals and their two young children, and the family are seeking a long-term candidate who takes genuine pride in maintaining a beautifully organised and efficiently run home. This is a busy yet respectful family environment where professionalism, discretion, and trustworthiness are highly valued. The family are looking for an organised and independent Housekeeper/Cook who can confidently take initiative and become a valued part of the household long term.
This is a permanent, part-time, live-out position offering 15 working hours per week across three working days, with some flexibility for the right candidate. Due to the semi-rural location and the requirement to run household errands, an own car is essential for this role. Working as a Housekeeper/Cook within this household involves maintaining consistently high housekeeping standards while also assisting with simple family cooking and the smooth day-to-day running of the home. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing their workload proactively, and supporting the principals by ensuring the property remains clean, organised, and well-presented at all times.
Working as a Housekeeper/Cook in this household will involve a combination of hands-on housekeeping, household organisation, and simple family cooking responsibilities. Duties will include cleaning of all living spaces, scheduled deep cleaning, laundry and ironing, changing bed linen and towels, maintaining marble surfaces and wooden floors using appropriate care techniques, and basic wardrobe organisation. The role will also involve preparing simple family meals through occasional batch cooking and following recipes, running errands such as dry cleaning and food shopping, managing household supplies, and occasionally liaising with contractors to support the smooth running of the property. This position would suit a warm, efficient, and highly organised Housekeeper/Cook who enjoys working within a family environment and takes pride in maintaining a high standard throughout the home.

Main duties of this Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook:
- General housekeeping and maintaining high household standards throughout the 5-bedroom family home
- Scheduled deep cleaning of all living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen spaces, and family areas
- Careful cleaning and maintenance of marble worktops and wooden flooring using appropriate cleaning methods and products
- Laundry management including washing, ironing, folding, and basic wardrobe organisation
- Changing bed linen and towels and ensuring bedrooms remain beautifully presented
- Doing one or two batches of simple family cooking per week
- Running household errands including dry cleaning collection, returns, and online food shopping
- Managing household supplies and ensuring cleaning products and household essentials remain fully stocked
- Occasional liaison with contractors and external household service providers when required
- Supporting the principals with the smooth day-to-day running of the household through a proactive and independent approach
- Maintaining discretion, professionalism, and a positive attitude within a busy family home environment
Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper/Cook job:
- Three years of private Housekeeper experience
- Two excellent checkable references
- Conversational English
- An own car is essential
- DBS check
