A friendly, informal family in Poole are looking for a reliable housekeeper and cook to join their home on a temporary basis (at least 6 months). The family is made up of two adults and their young child, and they would love someone who can keep the household running smoothly and have a home-cooked dinner on the table each evening. Poole is a lovely place to work, with Poole Harbour, sandy beaches and the Dorset coast close by.

Working as a housekeeper in a private family home is varied and rewarding. You are the person who keeps the home calm, clean and organised, so the family can enjoy it. The usual duties include cleaning, laundry, keeping beds made and the kitchen tidy, and helping with household supplies. In this role, preparing the family dinner is a key part of the day, so good cooking skills are important.

Type: Temporary (at least 6 months), part-time, live-out

Working days: Monday to Friday

Working hours: 5h/day, 25 hours per week. Exact start and finish times will be agreed with the family, and dinner should be ready for 6:30pm.

Salary: £25 to £30 per hour gross, depending on experience (self-employed or PAYE)

Duties:

Keeping the home consistently clean, tidy and well presented
General cleaning, tidying, hoovering and mopping
Loading and unloading the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen tidy
Washing, drying, ironing and putting laundry away, following garment care labels
Changing beds and towels
Preparing and cooking family dinners, ready for 6:30pm
Helping with meal planning, grocery shopping and monitoring household supplies
Using appropriate products for each surface, following manufacturers’ instructions
