This charming riverside location is renowned for its scenic walks, attractive countryside surroundings, and excellent quality of life whilst remaining within easy reach of Reading and London. The principals enjoy regular visits from their family and are seeking a reliable, organised, and professional housekeeper cook who can assist with cleaning, light cooking, shopping, and household errands, helping to maintain their home to a consistently high standard.
Working as a housekeeper cook in this household offers an enjoyable and varied role within a respectful and appreciative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of both the five-bedroom main residence and the one-bedroom boathouse, caring for the laundry, making beds, and assisting with light meal preparation for breakfast and lunch when required. The role also involves shopping for household supplies, taking laundry to the dry cleaners, and running occasional errands using the candidate's own vehicle. The lady of the house is an artist, therefore particular care and attention will be required when maintaining her study and creative workspace.
The family owns homes in France and Spain, where they spend several weeks each year, and there may be opportunities for occasional travel with the principals.

As this is a live-out position in a semi-rural location, a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. The successful candidate will be required to undertake shopping and household errands using their own car. Wargrave offers convenient access to nearby towns and transport links, making the property reasonably accessible for local candidates.
Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper Cook:
- Cleaning and maintaining the five-bedroom residence to a high standard.
- Cleaning and caring for the one-bedroom boathouse.
- Dusting, polishing, vacuuming, and maintaining all living areas.
- Cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, and reception rooms.
- Making and changing beds.
- Laundry care, including washing, ironing, folding, and organising clothing.
- Taking laundry to and from local dry cleaners.
- Maintaining the lady of the house's study with care and attention to detail.
- Assisting with light cooking and preparation of simple breakfasts and lunches.
- Shopping for groceries and household supplies.
- Running household errands efficiently and independently.
- Monitoring household stock levels and replenishing supplies when required.
- Maintaining tidy, organised, and welcoming living spaces.
- Supporting the principals during periods when family members visit.

Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper Cook job:
- Three or more years of private housekeeper cook experience
- Two excellent checkable references
- Conversational English
