PERMANENT PART-TIME HOUSEKEEPER COOK

Salary: £20,800 – £26,000 gross per annum
A welcoming family based in Newton Mearns, a desirable residential area outside Glasgow, Scotland, is seeking an experienced and reliable Housekeeper Cook to join their household as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who takes pride in maintaining a well-presented home whilst preparing simple, nutritious meals for a busy family environment.
The household consists of three adults and two teenagers aged 13 and 14, as well as three cats. The family is looking for a child-friendly and organised individual who can work independently and provide consistent support with housekeeping, laundry and evening meal preparation. The workload is steady and well-structured, with a part-time cleaner attending the property twice a week to assist with the overall upkeep of the home.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards throughout the property, including the care of marble, wooden surfaces and brass hardware. Cooking duties will focus on preparing simple evening meals and batch cooking, such as preparing chicken, vegetables and other family dishes in advance. The role will also involve occasional interaction with contractors, including providing access to the property when required.

Main duties of the Housekeeper/Cook:
- Complete housekeeping to a high standard throughout the property.
- Daily cleaning and maintenance of all rooms.
- Laundry and wardrobe care.
- Occasional ironing as required.
- Preparing simple, nutritious evening meals and batch cooking for the family.
- Maintaining and caring for marble, wooden surfaces and brass hardware.
- Ensuring excellent household organisation.
- Monitoring household supplies and replenishing essentials.
- Emptying and cleaning the cats’ litter trays.
- Providing access to contractors and directing them when required.
- Reporting any maintenance issues to the principals.
Requirements for this Housekeeper/Cook job:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a private household
- Good spoken English essential
- Trustworthy, discreet and respectful of household privacy.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- At least two excellent, checkable references
- Comfortable working in a household with cats.
- Child-friendly and professional approach.
- Valid right to work in the UK.
