Job Overview:
A family of three based in Highgate, London, is seeking a professional and experienced Head Housekeeper to join their household on a permanent, live-out basis. The family resides in a spacious private home arranged over four floors, including a basement level with a spa area, swimming pool, and gym. The residence comprises five bedrooms and multiple living and leisure spaces. The Head Housekeeper will oversee the daily housekeeping operations whilst working closely with two other housekeepers.
Highgate is one of London’s most desirable residential areas, known for its elegant period homes, leafy streets, and village-like charm. The area offers a balance of tranquillity and convenience, with Hampstead Heath and Waterlow Park nearby for outdoor leisure, as well as independent shops, cafés, and restaurants that create a welcoming community atmosphere. The Head Housekeeper will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and household presentation. This is a hands-on role that also requires leadership, coordination of the housekeeping team, and the ability to implement efficient systems.
The candidate must be confident in operating modern household technology, including thermostats, humidifiers, air purifiers, and smart-home applications.
A child-friendly approach is essential as the family has a three-year-old child, and the role requires daily evening turndown service.

Main duties of the Full-Time Head Housekeeper:
- Overall responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and order across all four floors of the residence, including bedrooms, bathrooms, reception rooms, and leisure areas
- Hands-on housekeeping: daily, weekly, and deep cleaning routines, ensuring the highest standards are consistently met
- Laundry and wardrobe management: washing, ironing, steaming, sorting, and organising garments, including delicate and luxury fabrics
- Care and maintenance of fine surfaces and furnishings, including stone, wood, metals, leather, and glass
- Confident operation of household technology, including thermostats, humidifiers, air purifiers, and smart-home systems
- Coordinating with contractors, tradespeople, and other household staff to ensure smooth household operations
- Monitoring household supplies and overseeing stock rotation and inventories
- Supervising and working alongside two additional housekeepers, delegating tasks and maintaining standards across the team
- Daily evening turndown service, preparing bedrooms and bathrooms for the family
- Receiving deliveries and managing returns, ensuring accurate record-keeping
- Assisting with household organisation, including seasonal wardrobe changes and general storage management
- Travelling with the family when required to provide housekeeping support abroad
Requirements for this Full-Time Head Housekeeper job:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in private households
- Right to work in the UK and ability to work on a self-employed basis
- Fluency in both English and Russian
- Flexible and adaptable with a proactive approach
