The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of a portfolio of commercial and residential properties across London and Guildford. Working as a professional handyman involves taking a pro-active approach to property maintenance, identifying potential issues, carrying out repairs, and ensuring that residential and commercial premises remain safe, functional, and well-presented. The role requires practical knowledge across various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, decorating, general repairs, and electrical maintenance within the candidate's competence. A capable handyman must also be confident working independently, prioritising maintenance requirements, arranging specialist contractors when necessary, and overseeing external works through to completion. In this position, particular emphasis will be placed on high-quality decorating, meticulous surface preparation, and the application of premium finishes, including polished plaster and specialist decorative treatments where required.

Main duties of the Full-Time Handyman:

Taking responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the commercial and residential property portfolio across London and Guildford.
Carrying out general repairs and maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical work within the candidate's competence, and other practical maintenance tasks.
Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving maintenance issues efficiently and independently.
Completing scheduled maintenance tasks across both internal and external areas of the properties.
Conducting preventative maintenance inspections and identifying items that require repair, upgrading, or replacement.
Carrying out high-quality decorating across a range of residential and commercial spaces.
Preparing surfaces meticulously, including sanding, filling, repairing imperfections, and priming.
Applying paints, wallpapers, and specialist decorative finishes with precision.
Delivering polished plaster and other high-end decorative finishes where required.
Identifying when maintenance or repair requirements fall outside personal expertise or require specialist contractors.
Researching and identifying suitable external specialists for specific maintenance and repair projects.
Liaising with the wider team to coordinate maintenance projects and ensure work progresses efficiently.
Communicating clearly and professionally with colleagues at all levels, providing updates on ongoing works and any issues requiring attention.
Driving the company-provided van between the various properties across London and Guildford.
Planning daily journeys and maintenance schedules efficiently to manage time effectively.

Requirements for this Full-Time Handyman job:

Three or more years of private handyman or property maintenance experience
Two excellent checkable references
Conversational English
UK working permit
